With a potent strain of pot sweeping the City, D.T.A agents attempt to infiltrate a small town farming operation that has a strong leader and interesting family members.

Director: Tony Wash

Writers: Andy GolubKevin C. Lockhart (as Kevin Lockhart) | 2 more credits »

High on the Hog opens with a girl running down the street with blood on her hands in a panic, what she is freaking out over is unclear at first. There’s a flashback on party with group of people which the girl who was running down the street in the opening to the film is a part of. They all try out this new strand of marijuana with some added side effects. girl starts freaking out soon after she takes a hit off a Pig shaped bong tries cutting herself saying something is crawling inside her, trying to take scissors to herself one of her friends ends up getting the scissors to the neck in the struggle which leads to the girl’s freak out and her running down the street half naked before getting hit by a car.

The main focus of the movie is Big Daddy’s Farmland. Big Daddy (Sid Haig), known for House of a 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects, Night of The Living Dead 3D, Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. He took over his family’s farm and business growing and selling “The Best Weed In The United States Of America” as Big Daddy puts it. He adopts people who have been wronged and abused taking them under his wing becoming family and helping with the farm and family business.

Big daddy’s farm becomes a target for the D.T.A as they believe big daddy is supplying bad weed that kills, dubbing it “suicidal weed”. The feds need proof to take big daddy down, a rookie agent A.J. suggests sending her in as undercover agent to obtain the proof that they need but is denied permission due to it is too dangerous and not worth risking her life. A.J. however doesn’t listen and takes it into her own hands going undercover anyways and that’s where things start to heat up. And Big Daddy will defend his family and farmland at whatever cost necessary.

High On the Hog Available Now

In conclusion I liked the film overall thought it was well done kept my attention, properly paced, good cast found quite a few characters I liked. it was nice to see another film with both Sid Haig and Ellie Church from Skeletons In The Closet playing as the KUSH DJ Hostess. I found the Town Mayor played by Robert Z’Dar to be very entertaining with his refreshing attitude.  I thought the story was well written had no problems keeping our attention from start to finish. Overall I highly recommend this film to watch.

Look for the Blu-ray available June 2019. Also check out the Interview Paul and I did with Kevin Lockhart (Writer / Producer) and returning guest, Ben Lewandowski (Editor).
