“John Carpenters: Tales of Science Fiction: Twitch #4” – Comic Review

One minute, you’re knocking back a beer late at night, just trying to unwind after a tough day at work. The next minute, you’re blind and handcuffed speeding through the desert while random people are shooting at you. But maybe you deserve it, because you tried to kill your wife and colleague just a few hours ago…

That’s right, baby — you’re part of the hive now, and you just found out how everything you know and love can disappear with a single TWITCH…

Twenty Four Years Ago, another flashback this time with Officer Pinkerton with Officer Hooper (his partner?) teaching him how to shoot better by lining up his shot and squeezing the trigger. Present day, seems to start with a black out? From Officer Pinkerton, where in Twitch #3, we last saw him trying to gather his thoughts drinking a beer or some kind of beverage. But it also seems like something else happened.

We read and see what exactly happened, some how Ronnie Pinkerton (Officer) went insane. Creating a explosion from putting metal into the microwave, Officer Pinkerton was no longer himself, but taken over. Planning on killing his wife and Marisa, they got Ronnie to comeback to himself minus his vision which is now gone. Tied and driving down the road, while others start going insane around them. Maris is baffled of how it’s spreading, only thinking Officer Pinkerton was infected from the contact with Josh.

Things have gotten to the worst, Marisa doesn’t know how this WOW signal is spreading so quickly. It seems like what I mentioned about the whole eye contact with one that’s infected used to be the key? However as Marisa is finding out and thinking, these extraterrestrials are getting smarter. Somehow “by-passing” the contact and straight “downloading” into the very mind of these people. Searching for the signal, running into a gathering (no other way to put it) guarding the possible signal. It seems one more issue will help us get the conclusion of how these beings can be stopped once and for all, and that’s if Mrs. Pinkerton and Marisa can make it to the source of the signal alive.

As we make our way through this, we get some nice flashbacks to what happened to the end of #3 with Officer Pinkerton. And how they were able to get into a vehicle to head toward the supposed area of a possible signal. Well, maybe not possible signal since it was the Laboratory that had the signal to begin with. Duane, the writer of these monthly issues at the time I wonder how quickly they had to be done. If it was already done then handed to like Richard to draw the artwork then Janice create the dialogue for each issue and make it ready. I definitely cannot wait till I read the finale. This is one of my favorite sci-fi stories I’ve read in a long time.

“Tales of Science Fiction Twitch, is a like a story
