Review & Full Film link of C. A. Wallace’s Horror short NSFW about a Vigilante Hunting a Pedophile!

Without spoiling, we review, NSFW thriller/horror short film, which is made free to watch on YouTube thanks to the Screamfest YouTube channel as it was screened at Scream Film festival in 2016.

Directed by: C. A. Wallace Produced by: Abi Atkinson Executive Producer(s): Simon Lewis Written by: C. A. Wallace. Starring, Karl Davies, Greed Danny Webb. It’s a film about vigilantism, child predators and horror in the woods.

Synopsis:-

When a blogger pretends to be a child online, his attempts to uncover a predator lead to unexpected and horrific consequences in a nearby woods.

Spoiler-Free Review:-

The film’s name is NSFW, i.e., Not Safe for Work, which is pretty misleading since there’s no nudity, bad language, suggestive scenes but yes, there’s blood and violence. The film’s name also suggests methods used by the protagonist which are not safe for his work of a blogger.

The short thriller film is about a blogger who tries to trap a pedophile by posing as an underage kid and then making the pedophile come into deep woods nearby a lake. The place, where no kid would agree to meet, is the agreed meeting place of our hero and the other ‘kid’ on the Internet whom he met online. This makes the hero feel that the other ‘kid’ is not a kid but a pedophile that lures underage children into the woods and does horrible things to them.

Our hero heads towards the woods to find some evidence to post in his blog or even capture the pedophile, if possible. Will he succeed in his mission? Is it really a pedophile there or a kid? Is it a ghost? These questions keep you on the edge of your seat as you continue to watch the film.

The film deals with the issues of child predators in a proper way without making you cringe or showing anything gross. The vigilantism subject is also treated in a modest way and not as in a superhero way but there’s a cool yet sad twist in the end. The subject of social media influence, pursuit of fame and alteration of facts by the survivors is also showcased in the right way.

The film’s cinematography is brilliant. The scenes of our hero’s home, the travelling sequence, and the woods have similar color tone, which helps the immersion. The acting by the lead hero and the other person we see in the woods is fantastic, although, I wish we could see more of the other person.  Direction and pacing is good, so, the 30 minutes pass by easily once you are gripped into the story and invested in the protagonist.

Overall, this 30 minutes short thriller is a creepy and intriguing film, especially during the woods part, which also feels like homage to some Found Footage films. Great performances, much needed social messages and a twist, which you never see coming makes this film worth watching, besides the fact that it’s made available to watch for free courtesy of Screamfest YouTube channel.
