The Haunting Continues- The Haunting Of Bly Manor-Review

Released: October 9, 2020

The Next Haunting Chapter Continues from the creator Mike Flanagan of The Haunting of Hill House brings us The Haunting Of Bly Manor.

Synopsis: After an Au pair’s tragic death, Henry Windgrave hires a young American nanny to care for his orphaned niece and nephew who reside at Bly Manor with the chef Owen, groundskeeper Jamie and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose.

There’s something Dark and Ominous residing on the grounds of Bly Manor

I will post a link for the trailer down below.

The Characters of Bly Manor

Dani Clayton (Victoria Pedretti)

American Nanny Dani Clayton, played by Victoria Pedretti also best known for her portrayal of Eleanor aka Nell in The Haunting Of Hill House becomes the Main protagonist of this Gothic themed love story. We follow her journey walking the grounds of Bly Manor as she is entrusted to the care of two childeren Flora ( Amelie Bea Smith) and Miles (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) after their first Au pair’s mysterious death at Bly.

What secret does Dani have? Who is this strange figure following her?
Flora (Amelie Bea Smith) and Miles Windgrave (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth)

Miles and Flora Windgrave two very interesting childeren who reside at their summer home of Bly Manor. As we follow the series we discover that there is a lot more going on behind the eyes of these two childeren. Not all is as it seems at Bly.

Owen (Rahul Kohli) and Mrs. Hannah Grose (‘TNia Miller)

We also have on the grounds of Bly Manor, Chef Owen is laid back character later suffers a tragic loss played by Rahul Kohli. Who in turn has a unique bond with the housekeeper Mrs. Hannah Grose played by ‘TNia Miller. Her character is strong willed, very protective of the Windgraves and their home as it has become hers.

Dani (Victoria Pedretti) and Jamie (Amelia Eve)

The Gardener/ Groundskeeper Jamie played by Amelia Eve becomes a lot more than she ever thought she would become to the american nanny Dani Clayton. Jamie is one of my other favorite characters of the series. Her demeanor is refreshing to say the least and her love for her gardens of Bly she takes pride in.

who are Dani and Jamie looking for?
Peter (Oliver Jackson-Cohen)

Returning as well to The next Haunting chapter we have Oliver Jackson-Cohen playing Peter. Best known for his roll as Nell’s twin brother Luke in The haunting of Hill house. His role as Peter in this series makes him an arrogant, headstrong man with dark secrets who falls for the Au Pair Rebecca.

Rebbeca Jessel- Windgrave’s previous Au Pair

Rebecca Jessel (Tahirah Sharif) the Au pair whose tragic death we dont know the circumstances of at first, we learn as the story progresses. Originally cared for the Windgrave childeren. A sweet, caring soul who ended up being in the wrong place at the wrong time and falling for Peter which played a part in her undoing.

What Happened to The Au pair Rebecca?
Violet (Kate Siegel)

We also have another returning Character from The Haunting of Hill House but without giving too much away about her. Kate Siegel, Played Nell’s and Luke’s sister Theodora in the haunting of hill house. Plays Violet in this Series. To learn her story, what role she partakes in Bly Manor you simply will have to watch the series all the way to the end.

Henry Windgrave (Henry Thomas)

Lastly to mention Henry Windgrave uncle to Flora and Miles. Played by Henry Thomas played Young Hugh Crain in The Haunting of Hill House. For his character in Bly Manor has his own demons to face.

Who is the Lady of the Lake?

So the characters of Bly Manor all have their parts to play in this Story. Ghosts within the walls and upon the grounds of the manor of Bly. Hard to tell what your eyes are really seeing or are they decieving you. What’s the real story behind Bly Manor, the history? You’ll just have to watch to learn the truth.

My final thoughts for this series. It started out with a slow burn at first but about halfway through the series then the pace picked up. What a powerful tale of Love and Loss. What lengths we’d go through for love. To keep it alive. What happens when there’s such a tremendous loss what demons are unleashed in it’s wake.

I will say I was more engrossed in The Haunting of Hill House, though The Haunting of Bly Manor was still good in it’s own unique ways. I cant wait to see if the Hauntings will continue, if so where will be. Check it out for yourselves can be currently found on Netflix along with The Haunting of Hill House for those of you who have yet to see both.

If your looking for the soundtrack for this series Waxwork Records has it.
