Horror Film Review: Two Twisted Tales by NMJ Films (Released on Amazon Prime Video on January 1st 2021)

Without spoiling, we review, NMJ Films’ upcoming horror short film named “Twisted Two Tales” releasing on Amazon Prime Video on January 1st 2020. “Two Twisted Tales” (2021), is a sequel short to “Genevieve” (2020), “Genevieve Wreaks Havoc” (2020), and also “Tales from Six Feet Under” (2020).

The Visitor returns to bring you two more twisted tales of terror, including one about Genevieve: The Killer Doll.

Spoiler-Free Review:-

NMJ Films’ Nicholas Michael Jacobs has made many horror films and shorts that try to break the mold of the horror genre and storytelling. Two Twisted Tales features the Grim Reaper type of character called “The Visitor” (Skillfully played by Nicholas Michael Jacobs) from the Tales from Six Feet Under (2020), and now due to the current outbreak, this short film is made with restrictions on the crew, resources and time yet the end product feels like it was made with a lot of attention to detail.

The Visitor is telling two stories while a tape recorder is playing. The audience get to know more about the origin of the Genevieve possessed killer doll, which was featured in NMJ films’ Urban Fears horror anthology as well as two horror shorts mainly focused on the doll. There’s a story of a lady called Michelle Goldberg (Brilliantly played by Alexis Beacher) whose husband died and she is trying to find solace by surfing the web but one fateful night, she stumbles upon the dark web and discovers a mystery box. She decides to order it and it gives her a very scary surprise.

The editing is perfect. With 3 minutes length, there’s no shot wasted, and you get to see the characters only briefly which adds to the suspense and professional approach of the cinematography. The costumes, and props used are of high quality. The camera quality and visual color tone feels like a big budget movie. Acting, and body language has been well executed by both. Music is perfect for this short as it intensifies the horror. Nicholas Michael Jacobs has played his roles very well, and I would have loved to see more of his scenes as he has a great screen presence. Alexis Beacher effectively portrayed the character and shines as the short reaches the peak of the terrifying twist.

In conclusion, Two Twisted Tales provides entertainment, scares and surprises which will be loved by any horror fan who would like a bite sized horror short that’s well made and delivers what it promises- two tales that contain suspense and are twisted in a horrifying way! Highly recommended!!
