Synopsis:
More than twenty years have passed since the Benson Station disaster as an unauthorized rescue mission brings the survivors together again. Now some 5,500 light years from home a familiar evil is rising with a score to settle.
Something is killing its way through the Barringer Habitat and Jake Dixon is the prime suspect. Now on the run with old ship mate, Anna Cheron, he’s fallen in with a gang that operate outside the law. As something alien once more unfurls it’s tendrils towards humanity Dixon is offered a new mission perhaps even more deadly than the last.
With the horror of Menemsha Bite behind them Dixon and what’s left of the team return to a very different Barringer Habitat than the one they left. Following another appearance by the long dead Willow Sinclair a search for survivors turns into a fight for survival as the Vortex begins to turn faster.

Spoiler-Free Review:-
John Carpenter’s Tales of Science Fiction Vortex 1 series introduced us to a fascinating future of intergalactic exploration, and settlements of humans but in an attempt to discover more, a team of scientists had lost contact with Earth which set the background for the events of Vortex 1. Jake Dixon was the lead character in the mission which ended up becoming more of a survival mission rather than an investigation. Jake Dixon barely made it back, but accidentally brought the alien organism with him which changed mankind forever.
Vortex 2.0 started off many years after the unfortunate events of Vortex 1. Jake Dixon was inside a space prison because he was accused of murders. His former crew mate forced him to escape the prison, and their newly found friend from the prison helps them to return to the site “Menemsha Bite” where Jake Dixon and his crew went for investigation years ago. They entered the site to find that there’s more than alien infestation to worry about…
John Carpenter’s Tales of Science Fiction Vortex 2.0 Issue #7 of 8 has some of the best action, visually shocking horror, and unexpected twists that make the story interesting. Jake Dixon, and the crew upon their return to Earth’s space colony “Barringer Habitat“, find that the alien infestation has reached there. They try to find any survivors at the site, while trying to escape any leftover alien possessed dead bodies. The story takes the concept of “leeches treatment” to the next level and makes us question how far we can go to get perfect treatment for our ailments, especially when it involves alien substances. It also shows the heroism, and survival capabilities of humans.
In conclusion, John Carpenter’s Tales of Science Fiction Vortex 2.0 Issue 7 of 8 is an exciting issue that sets the tone for the climax of this out of the world sci-fi horror comic series full of interesting story, likeable characters, beautiful visuals, and shocking horror. This is a must read for any sci-fi space horror fan.
