Spoiler-Free Review:

To be published by Storm King Comics on Aug 25th 2021, John Carpenter’s Tales of Science Fiction Hell #5 of 8 is a sci-fi horror comic that follows the mission of a crew entering the depths of Earth to search for the origin of reptilian creatures and a rare mineral. The fifth issue starts in a cave full of crystal but there’s something dangerous other than just glittering crystals out there…

Stefanie Billings, our protagonist and an Occult Specialist is accompanied by a friendly humanoid talking reptilian found in New York City along with her old friend, Mr. Samples and a diverse group of crew formed by a corporation for a mission to search the hell- 11,000 feet below the ocean surface to be exact. After forming a crew, getting through the Bermuda Triangle and surviving an underground desert, this issue features an isolated underground area full of hot tunnels and crystals. The crew is trying to find clues but then they are surprised by the sudden appearance of giant insect-like creatures that scare the daylights out of them…

Everyone was prepared well, qualified and the team spirit was flawless. Despite that, the situation went out of control. After losing some crewmates in the desert, this area again tests the unity of the crew as they fight to survive and escape this horrifying place. The fear of these new creatures keeps growing as every page of this comic is turned. You will be fascinated by the writing and realistic illustrations present here. There’s a lot of action but this issue takes the psychological horror to the next level with its introduction of new foes defying weapons and overtaking our crew. Well written dialogues and narration compliments the lettering that provides essential details with appropriate size and quantity of words. There’s realistic gore, violence and horror but no nudity or suggestive themes.

In conclusion, John Carpenter’s Tales of Science Fiction Hell Issue 5 by Storm King Comics provides unparalleled sci-fi storytelling filled with likeable characters, suspense, psychological horror & over the top action which comes to life thanks to spectacular illustrations!

If you love horror, science and action, you will enjoy this comic a lot!
