Clash of the Yokai – Japanese Folklore card battle game by AfterLight Comics LIVE on Kickstarter!

Play as a host of supernatural monsters, spirits, and demons from Japanese folklore as you clash with your opponent & claim victory!

After many successful campaigns featuring graphic novels, comics and a card game, AfterLight Comics is back with a brand new card game worth supporting before the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign ends on Fri, November 26 2021 10:00 PM UTC +04:00. More details below!

“Yokai are a class of supernatural entities and spirits in Japanese Folklore.”

Clash of the Yokai is a 2 or 4 player card game that holds a collection of 36 cards. Each card displays unique Yokai art alongside a biography and five measured statistics. From Fear factor, Strength, Stealth, Mythos, and deadliness.

To start the game, shuffle and deal all the cards face down. Each player holds their cards so that they can see the top card only.

The player to the dealer’s left begins by reading out one of the categories from the top card (e.g. Fear Factor 60). The other players then read out the same category from their cards. The one with the best or highest value wins, and that player collects all the top cards, including their own, and moves them to the bottom of their pile. It is then their turn again to choose a category from the next card.

If two or more cards share the top value or data is not available for that particular category then all the cards are placed in the middle and the same player chooses again from the next card. The winner of the hand takes the cards in the middle as well.

The person with all the cards at the end is the Winner!

The 36 card deck features Yokai from all different backgrounds of Japanese mythology, to some you may have heard of to ones you are yet to discover…
