About The Wolf Stone Saga:

What if Katniss Everdeen stepped into the Marvel Universe?

If you’re a fan of action-packed superhero comics and mind-bending supernatural thrillers, you’ll love THE WOLF STONE SAGA!

Jennifer Greywolf was an ordinary nineteen-year-old girl until her mother died of inoperable cancer. After the funeral, Jenn discovered a small stone bound to a leather band, kept in a shoebox under her mother’s bed. The moment she touches the stone and blast of pink energy destroys part of the wall.

While trying to learn the history of this strange talisman, Jenn learns the father who died before she was born was once the armored superhero known as Silverwolf. However, everything she’s read about the Silverwolf says he died fifteen years before she was born.

Now Jenn is on a quest to learn more about the father she never knew and the strange artifact he left behind. Her search pulls her into a bizarre world of masked vigilantes, demonic wizards, genetically-altered paramilitary soldiers, and mystical realms outside her own.

Jenn races across the globe and into the netherworld to stop an unspeakable evil. Will she accept her role in this mysterious new world or run from the coming darkness trying to obliterate all of existence?

Official Synopsis:

A family cursed with a supernatural gift. A demigod suddenly murdered. An undying evil waiting to strike again.

Jennifer Greywolf has barely scratched the surface of her new weapon’s formidable powers. But when a bullet fashioned from another potent talisman is used to assassinate the world’s first superhero, she refuses to believe her friend is truly gone. Hoping her heirloom can bring him back, she embarks on a hunt for his killer… and uncovers a deadly secret that could lead to her doom.

Tracking the late hero’s mysterious origins, Jennifer lands in the crosshairs of a savage hit team. And as she dodges the attempts on her life, she’s plunged into a battle with the same malicious mastermind her grandfather faced eight decades ago. Except he’s now an almighty robot-powered fiend, and only she has the power to stop his lethal onslaught.

Is Jennifer’s destiny a path to victory, or is it a legacy of death?

GOLEM is the thrilling second book in THE WOLF STONE series. If you like intense twists, cunning villains, and tales told across time, then you’ll love this action-packed story.

Spoiler-Free Review:

Author, podcaster, filmmaker, comic writer and wrestler J. D. Oliva has been making supernatural action novels like The Books of Jericho series, Hawk Hollow, Harvest Moon and now, the latest novel series- The Wolf Stone Saga is an exciting combination of horror, action, and superhero elements. Golem is the second book in the series which provides us with horror, action and adventure from the World War II time period as well as 2020.
As mentioned earlier, the wolf stone saga is a superhero action thriller with horror elements. All of this content was evident from the Immortal novel and its prequel The Talisman. The sequel of The Immortal is the novel ‘Golem’. You don’t have to read all the previous novels to understand this but it helps to make your reading experience more cohesive and satisfying if you read The Talisman and The Immortal. After we learned about the bravery of protagonist Jennifer Greywolf’s mother in the Talisman, we saw Jennifer meet Apex and face an ancient demon threatening the world, now in Golem, we meet Jennifer and Apex again along with many new characters from the dreadful period of World War II but the time is running out…
The novel starts in an exciting and yet horrifying situation as we see scenarios from 1940, the time when the world was facing the threat of Hitler and his evil regime. The story accurately represents the atmosphere during that time while also adding alternate history thanks to the horror elements. The title of this novel is Golem and you soon realize why that’s the case as you learn about a legend that describes a gifted person called ‘Maharal’ making a creature named Golem out of Clay. There is a discussion about science, of course, so even the characters are seen as skeptics about it but it all finally changes as we witness it along with revelations about a bigger plan of world domination through the creation of the most powerful entity by a scientist helping the Evil regime.
We not only learn about such supernatural entities but we also learn about the political atmosphere in Europe and the US while Europe saw the dawn of the World War II. J. D. Oliva is a novelist that doesn’t just write about action and horror but also about emotions, circumstances and social consequences of various events as well as thoughts by the characters featured. One of which is Doc Stone, who’s popular among the masses for the conservative view about the War and the “America First” view which is a scary parallel to some of the recent events and also, some politicians from the past few years . We also see the ordeals of being a photographer and the important work of the Press during such dreadful time through the story of Peggy Clark, a photographer for the Daily Sun media. Like The Immortal novel, we learn more about the important work of John Greywolf during the World War 2 period, who’s related to our protagonist, Jennifer Greywolf.
The action and horror lovers would be greatly satisfied by all the action that happens which seems well organized through the narrative expertise of J.D. Oliva. The fun part of all is that we often see situations that are related to each other across the time periods- the present day (2020) and 1940. It all fits perfectly together like pieces of a puzzle as we continue to read the novel. The climax being among the most exciting events you’ll read!
The novel is of 342 pages and the story ends well without any cliffhangers. This novel has an exclusive preview of the novel called ‘Exile’ by J.D. Oliva. With some great action, horror and often humorous dialogues, it is a fun read for teens and above as there’s no excess violence, bad language or suggestive themes.
In conclusion, J.D. Oliva’s novel Golem is full of exciting action, horror and historical references that’s blended in a unique combination of superhuman adventure and thriller!
